Dont blow a fuse dude.
Repetitive spamming is one thing, but blocking out stuff because its in the wrong place is a bit OTT imo.
People are getting better, using the trade channel more, everytime I see WTS in all I tell the person to use trade. No need to waste any coding/server space/myharddrivespace/a.nets time going to that extent.
IMO

Large Annoyance.
I appologize for bringing an old thread back to life but I too am upset about the constant spam. I turned on my trade channel to see if it was even getting use and the "Salesmen" were spamming on that, switching to all, spamming on that and switching back... Ultimate notice.
Ultimate annoyance. I cant even figure out the Ignore command.
Help me GW. Help me.

um...some of that IS blocked. they tried to do something about it. if you type "WTS" or "WTB" at the begining of your talk, it puts you in talk automatically. but people just "WT B" now.
ignore is used to ignore a specific person, not a talk.
or you can just turn off all chat when you arent using it.

god isnt THAT a lose/lose situation
but anyhow, yeah people would find ways around the blocks, they always do.

30 minute ban for trade chat in the local chat? a lot of work for admins but people will learn a hell of a lot faster and there won't be any people trying to get around it. If the moderators can't read that it's an advertisement then neither can other players.
It's impossible to do anything in LA because of all the spam, half of it in and half out of the trade chat. If I'm looking to buy/sell something, I'm looking in the trade channel, it's like advertising barbies to 40 year old men, only 1% of them actually want it.

I would heartily agree for short and sharp bans for players that spam the local channel with trading matters. What narks me even more though is if you ask them to stop, and they reply in a manner as if to say "why?" - bollocks to why, you know precisely why.
Thirty minute swing of the BANHAMMER. I would support this motion.

Well, then we might end up having to pay subscription fees for all the work the admins end up going to have to do... An easier solution would be to have some form of auction house... then we won't have to put up with nearly as much people trying to sell something

Current chat filtering is probably done in client side. If that is the case, let people add their own filters. This way buy/sell spammers don't know what filters everyone have and therefore can't force everyone to see their messages. Now there is a common standard what is filtered and these spammers can easily by-pass them with test messages. Ignore list could be "unlimited" too.

Doesn't fix it I'm afraid. Other MMOs with them still have the problem.

People should be banned for spamming the All chat IMO (not permanently of course).

Suspension and Ban. Learn the differences and the connotations.
Instead of chat filters, there should be, as many ppl suggested before, RP districts, trade-only districts, social districts, etc. If some idiot thinks he can spam trades in a RP district, 2 hr suspension or deletion of whatever item he was trying to sell. Don't be like microsoft. Fix the big issue, not the little bugs.
